He Refused to Leave. In Sudan, the Islamist militia had already set Amir’s church on fire. Now, they were hunting down Christians house by house—looting, burning, destroying. Amir (pictured above) stood face-to-face with armed men who wanted him dead. His response? "I'm not leaving until every believer is safe." And that’s exactly what he did. When finally fled to Egypt with his pregnant wife and children, he had nothing. No home. No income. No way to feed his family. Just his faith in Jesus—the faith that cost him everything.
