Some Olympic stories are about breakthrough moments. This one is about staying. Sarah Schleper is preparing for her seventh Olympic Games. No other female alpine ski racer has ever reached this milestone. Her son, Lasse Gaxiola, was born while she was still competing. Now they arrive at the same Olympic Games after earning their place independently. The first mother and son to compete together in the same Olympic edition. From Sarah's retirement run in Lienz carrying Lasse to the finish… to Lasse standing next to Ted Ligety's World Championship medal in 2009… …to today. This is what staying in the start gate looks like. This is what choosing the hard way looks like. Read the full story.
