The 2026 college football season begins in earnest this weekend, and the appetizer of Week 0 is already in the rearview. Talking season is officially over.
On3 combed through predictions from across the media landscape to see where the sport's top voices think this season is heading. A year removed from Indiana's stunning run to a national title, nobody's ruling out another surprise, but the expert class has still landed on some clear favorites.
Notre Dame drew the most support by far, with 16 experts, including ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit and FOX Sports' Joel Klatt, picking the Fighting Irish to win it all. Oregon isn't far behind, landing 14 picks from voices like On3's Brett McMurphy and Jesse Palmer. Ohio State rounded out the group with the next-largest bloc of support, pulling eight picks, including from Urban Meyer, Greg McElroy, and Chris Low.
In total, 57 college football experts cast their vote for this year's national champion, and the rest of the field tells its own story about where the smart money is landing. See which team every expert picked, including which analysts are banking on an upset special, below.
