It's that time of year again: A new brood of cicadas is preparing to emerge. This spring, Brood XIV is set to make itself known in 13 U.S. states, though Kentucky and Tennessee are expected to experience the brunt of it. Gene Kritsky, the founder of Cicada Safari, told USA Today the insects will likely start to emerge in mid-late April, or after a "good rain." Learn which other states should anticipate hearing a buzz (and when).

More Harvard Students Will Attend Tuition-Free
Maddie Meyer/Getty Images
It's not too good to be true: Starting this fall, Harvard University students with family incomes of $200,000 and under will have their tuition covered, a significant jump from the previous cutoff of $85,000. Those with a family income below $100,000 will also have other fees taken care of, including housing, dining, travel costs between campus and home, and "winter gear" to help students prepare for notoriously brutal New England winters. The updated financial aid plan follows in the footsteps of other higher ed institutions that have increased income caps, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania. Harvard President Alan M. Garber said it's a bid to ensure the college experience is accessible and diverse. "Putting Harvard within financial reach for more individuals widens the array of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that all of our students encounter, fostering their intellectual and personal growth," he said in the announcement. "By bringing people of outstanding promise together to learn with and from one another, we truly realize the tremendous potential of the university." Get more details on which colleges offer tuition-free programs, and how they work.

How You Age Is Up to You
Is it too soon to think about how you're aging? Probably not. Starting in our 30s, some key cellular processes begin to slow down, making us feel tired and weak over time. This decline affects not just our physical strength and endurance, but significantly reduces our quality of life, making everyday activities harder to enjoy. Luckily, Swiss scientists have discovered a way to shape how we age. Mitopure®, by Timeline, targets the root cause of this cellular decline and is clinically proven to increase energy, giving our bodies the fuel they need to function optimally. The results? Significant increases in muscle strength and endurance without any change in exercise. Take aging into your own hands. Get 30% off with code NICE30 for a limited time, while supplies last.
NASA Astronauts Set to Return Home After Replacements Arrive at Space Station

Roll out the welcome mat — Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams are almost earthbound. The astronaut duo found themselves hanging out in space for much longer than their anticipated eight-day trip back in June 2024, but the wait is nearly over, as a new crew arrived at the International Space Station over the weekend to relieve them. "It was a wonderful day. Great to see our friends arrive," Williams told Mission Control of the four astronauts, pictured here before taking off. Wilmore and Williams could be on Earth as soon as this evening, pending weather conditions. But they're in for quite a ride first. The pair, joined by NASA commander Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, will undergo a fiery re-entry through the planet's atmosphere and experience g-forces about four times that of Earth's gravity — all of which will be followed by a parachute landing to help the craft gently land on the ocean, the BBC reports. "They're experienced astronauts, but they will feel fantastic to be back on Earth. The fresh air is the first thing that gets you," Helen Sharman, Britain's first astronaut, told the outlet. Watch the moment that Wilmore and Williams greeted their replacements with "all the hugs."

Driverless Minibus Hits Barcelona Streets
WeRide Inc.
In Barcelona, a new electric minibus is taking passengers for a ride at no cost. But here's the catch: No one's behind the wheel. The driverless vehicle, from French carmaker Renault and autonomous vehicle company WeRide, can go up to 25 mph and runs on a 1.3-mile circular route with four stops where curious passengers can hop on. Student Pau Cugat was one of those curious passengers, and told the Associated Press he saw the new bus as a symbol of progress. "We just passed by a regular, combustion-engine city bus, and I thought, 'Look, there is a bus of the past, and right behind it you have the bus of the future,'" the 18-year-old said. The Barcelona route is one of several testing projects in European cities to see how the minibus prototype performs on the open road. So far, there have been no reports of accidents, Barcelona officials said. While similar programs have long been underway in the U.S. and China, the vehicle represents a major milestone for Europe. "We want to show that this works and prepare Europe to this route in public transportation," said Patrick Vergelas, head of Renault's autonomous mobility projects.

"It's definitely a surprise," the 25-year-old said after crossing the finish line, per ABC7.
