The college baseball transfer portal is currently in a dead period as North Carolina and Oklahoma meet in the College World Series championship series. But plans have been made for visits after the dead period ends on Tuesday. Pete Nakos has the latest scoop on some of the top names still up for grabs.
Oregon OF Angel Laya
One of the top available transfers remaining in the portal, sources tell On3 that a slew of SEC teams have expressed interest in the talented outfielder. Among the programs that sources have mentioned in the mix for Laya are Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia and LSU, among others. The first-team Freshman All-American selection slashed .296/.396/.538, plus 14 home runs.
Wake Forest INF JD Stein
Sources tell On3 that Stein is set to arrive on a visit to South Carolina on Tuesday. The freshman shortstop hit .266 with 10 doubles, five home runs, and 41 runs batted in. He hit .300 in ACC games, with an OPS over .900.
